Title: No Respect at All
Thank goodness for the shortened week!

Despite the holiday commemorating our brave ancestors, life goes on at pace in Trinidad and Tobago.

Last week, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley tried his best to do some PR work by saving face on his Chile trip.

This is of course in response to overspending by his Junior Ministers.

The problem remains is there has been no answer or repercussions at all.

Indeed, it seems a long time ago since Government Ministers remembered they were public servants.

Even Laventille, that PNM stronghold is uprising.

It’s not all Government’s fault of course.

Why, when the economy was strong, did we not prepare for a rainy day?

But when the money is tight now, we must look at dollars and cents.

And how do we get our questions answered?

There’s a freedom of spending that exists with Government still.

While clamouring for the man on the street to tighten his belt.

How much more must we tighten before our waists break?

And how do we get those comfortable politicians to answer the questions we need answering.

We need to knock on their doors. Call their phones. Flood their constituency office.

We are the police of these glorified servants.

Because we put them there. To serve our needs. Not theirs.

And it is time we remind them of this.
