Title: Non-political politics

Welcome to another scorching week in paradise!

Last week’s rain was a blessing and we’re glad it did not damper proceedings at the Brian Lara Stadium.

For those of us who live down that way, it was horrendous traffic.

Which is the topic of the blog today.

The Ministry of National Security will be launching an investigation into the protests at the Couva Hospital.

Why?

When people protest for water, better roads, a school for their kids, is there an investigation?

No.

So why does the Ministry’s official statement condemn the “reckless” move by the Opposition?

Doesn’t the Opposition have a right?

Maybe the timing was wrong.

But drivers didn’t have to stop and watch.

The rain was already making progress slow.

The protest was conducted in a peaceful manner and not on the roadway.

And was to highlight the brand new hospital collecting dust.

While cricket is being played down the road.

The timing then was perfect if you wanted to draw attention to an important issue.

Maybe, just maybe, the powers that be should listen instead of scolding.
