TAJ News Talk: July 17th, 2017

Title: Cooperation, makes it happen!

Welcome to another week in Trinidad and Tobago as July comes ever so swiftly to a close.

For those of a certain generation, you would remember the title as a Sesame Street song.

And as wishful thinking as it might be, you believe that if those in power thought more like Sesame Street songs, the world would be a better place.

And it seems, at least, they are hearing one song.

The Business Chambers are meeting with the bankers, first of all.

As the world economic downturn trickles into our islands, the businesses are beginning to feel the pinch.

Indeed, head of the Tunapuna Chamber of Commerce, Nalini Maharaj, businesses are beginning to downsize.

According to Maharaj, not only is foreign exchange a major concern, but so are bank fees, hidden or otherwise, that cripple small and medium businesses.

But they will talk this week.

Next up, of course, is the round table discussion between Government and Opposition.

Both, up to this point, have had more consideration in scoring political points.

Even the Opposition Leader says she has the solutions.

But the time for politicking is done.

It is time for serious business.

Serious change.

Serious talks.

We the population should stand for nothing less than collaboration.

And you have our cooperation.
