TAJ News Talk: 10th April, 2017. Peace at last?

Re-branding.

It certainly does the trick.

From Unruly ISIS to Masjid of Peace.

But the most important question is will Enterprise get one night without gunshots?

Head of the Islamic Front, Umar Abdullah says peace will come to Enterprise.

But when?

And for how long?

Abdullah plainly states the peace will not last long unless changes are made in the area.

Infrastructure.

Social Development.

He also spoke about distrust of the police service and their heavy handed methods.

From the media perspective, it’s two sides of a very dirty coin.

Why should admitted criminals be glorified and given handouts to stay quiet?

What about all the loot they have accumulated in their criminal time?

Do we just grant clemency because they say they will stop hitting the other kids in daycare?

Yes, police brutality will play a role.

But as a society, as a community, Enterprise needs to rebuild together. This country is rife with opportunities to move forward.

These young men need to realise they might win today’s battle.

But they will surely lose the war with life, if they look for gratuities.

Instead the new “gang leader” will be Government.

That could only be worse.

The two parties, Government and the community need to come together and solve the problems.

Or else, it’s just another failed society.
