WASA: Broken POS main being repaired

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) said the burst main near the lighthouse in Port of Spain will be repaired between Friday night and Saturday morning.

In a release, the company said temporary road restoration works are currently being carried out to facilitate the free flow of vehicular traffic, after a water-filled pothole caused massive traffic on Friday morning.

The company says the rupture along the west-bound lane of the Beetham Highway, Sea Lots, was caused a broken 200-millimetre diameter pipeline.

WASA says repairs to the ruptured pipeline will be undertaken from 9:00 pm on Friday to 5:00 am on Saturday.

During the period of repair, motorists are advised to proceed with caution in the vicinity of the work site and obey the instructions of the Police Officers on duty.

The company apologised for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience and understanding

As a result, the Priority Bus Route (PBR) has been opened to vehicular traffic until midnight to ease congestion heading in and out of the capital.
