While many soca artistes are expected to be jamming either in Panorama or at Caesar’s Army Bacchanal Road today, one artiste will be skipping the Carnival celebrations to attend the Grammy Awards.
Kerwin DuBois has been invited to the Grammy Awards and will be among the biggest stars in music at the event which takes place today at 8pm at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.
DuBois made the announcement via Instagram.
“Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realise they were the big things. I am humbly grateful for all the blessings bestowed upon me & especially thankful for all who played an integral part of this journey thus far. Impossible is nothing and we need to see Soca Music heading towards this direction of world music & be appreciated for giving people a vibration they can experience with no other music. Hard work dedication belief & moving hand in hand will take us to the biggest recognisable music platform to date. Thank you @grammypro for this invitation to a dream,” he wrote.
According to his publicist Adanna Asson, DuBois knows that opportunities like these do not come too often and while he is not going to be on stage collecting an award he would be sharing the same space with some of the top creators in the world.
“The networking opportunities are limitless for him and for Soca to reach to where it must be this type of opportunity is helpful,” she said.
For Carnival 2017, DuBois has released a number of songs among them “Dis Iz de Band’, “Is We”, “New Day” with Teddyson John and “Life Good” with the Ultimate Rejects.
