Swim Watson, Swim!

Another week comes to a close and we have one more week of easy traffic before school starts. Kids, we hope you make the most of this week!

The major concern in the country of course, is the inter island ferry service.

And you know it’s serious when business owners get involved.

But a major issue is hidden, compounded by the present one.

Tobago, or lack thereof, as a major money earner.

Head of the Tobago Hoteliers, Chris James says the island has been struggling since 2005.

from 80 thousand international visitors to 19 thousand.

That’s a massive drop off.

So, it boils down to sustaining an economy.

Trinidad, because of oil and neglect, had to prop up Tobago for all these years.

When they probably didn’t want it anyway.

But now, money is more scarce than water in the desert.

And Tobago can’t get its “allowance.”

So Watson Duke is going to swim to Trinidad.

It’s likely he can’t do it…he only started training today for a 25 mile swim!

It might not be the right or smart thing to do.

But it’s something.

And at least for sure, someone cares about Tobago.

Even if we do not.
